Layla Al-Subaie

Layla Al-Subaie is a Riyadh-based botanist and writer trained at King Saud University. Her field work focuses on the cultivated flora of the Najd plateau — courtyard gardens, restored mud-brick conservatories, and the small florariums that quietly thread through the city's older neighborhoods.

"This register is not a guide and not a shop. It is a slow journal. We record what blooms behind the walls of Riyadh — what survives the long summer, and what arrives, briefly, after rain."
